Artifacts: documents, tables, exports
Charts, key metrics, documents, and reports in Chat answers, and how to copy, download, and share them.
Some answers work better as something other than prose. When you ask for one, or when it makes the answer clearer, Nalar adds an artifact to the answer: a chart, a set of key metrics, a document, or a report. Tables in an answer can be copied or downloaded as CSV.
An artifact belongs to the answer that produced it. It uses the same Agent, data, and access as the rest of the conversation.
What Nalar can make
| Artifact | What you see | What you can do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Chart | A chart with its title, labels, units, and period. Hover or focus to read values. | Copy the data shown, with its labels, units, and period. |
| Key metrics | Metric name, value, unit, period, and what it's compared with | Copy the metrics and their context |
| Markdown document | The rendered document and its Markdown source | Copy the Markdown, or download a .md file |
| HTML report | A read-only preview of the report and its HTML source | Copy the HTML, download an .html file, or download a PDF |
| Table | A table in the answer, with its column headers | Copy as CSV, or download a .csv file |
To get one, ask for it in your question:
Show monthly revenue for 2026 as a line chart.Write an HTML report summarizing this quarter's sales by region, with a short commentary for each region. If you ask for a format Nalar can't make, it tells you and suggests one it can.
Open and inspect a document or report
Select a Markdown document or HTML report in the answer to open it in a panel beside the conversation. The toolbar at the top has these controls:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Preview / Code | Switches between the rendered document and its source. Neither regenerates it. |
| Copy source | Copies the Markdown or HTML source. |
| Copy conversation link | Copies a link to the conversation this artifact came from. |
| Copy share link | Copies a link to this artifact on its own. |
| Download PDF | Downloads a finished HTML report as a PDF. |
| Close | Closes the panel. The artifact stays in the answer, and you can reopen it. |
The PDF is made from the finished HTML report, so it has the same content. Download PDF is available only once the report is complete.
Tables and CSV
A table in an answer offers Copy CSV and Download CSV. The CSV has the same headers, values, and row order as the table you see, including number formatting. It is a copy of the visible table, not a new query, so it doesn't include rows the answer didn't show.
Share an artifact
You can share an artifact in two ways:
- Copy conversation link shares the whole conversation as a read-only view. See History and sharing.
- Copy share link shares only the artifact. You can revoke the link later.
Both links work only for signed-in members of your workspace who have access to the Agents the artifact needs. Neither is a public link.
Limits
- An artifact is a snapshot. Charts and metrics show the data at the time of the answer. They don't refresh, and you can't filter or edit them in Chat. For numbers you want to track, create a dashboard; see Your first dashboard.
- Reports are read-only. An HTML report is a document to read, not an interactive app or a public web page.
- Unfinished means unavailable. An artifact that is still loading, failed, or was stopped is labeled as such, and isn't offered as a download.
- Access is checked each time. Opening or downloading an artifact checks your current access. If you lose access to an Agent the conversation needs, its artifacts are hidden with the rest of the conversation. Files you already downloaded aren't affected.
If an artifact or download fails, Nalar explains what happened and you can retry or regenerate the answer.
