Cowork on a dashboard
Ask questions about a dashboard in a private side panel, and as its Owner, review changes before they are saved.
Cowork is a side panel on every dashboard where you can talk to Nalar about the page in front of you. Anyone who can open the dashboard can ask questions in it. The Dashboard Owner can also ask for changes, which Nalar proposes for review instead of applying straight away.
Open Cowork
Open the Cowork panel from the dashboard's header. One message box handles both questions and change requests; Nalar works out from your message which one you mean.
Your Cowork conversation is private. The Owner and other Viewers don't see what you ask, and you don't see theirs.
A conversation lasts while the panel is open. Closing the panel or leaving the dashboard ends it, and opening Cowork again starts a new conversation.
Ask about the numbers
Ask the way you would ask an analyst sitting next to you:
Why did gross margin drop in August compared with July?Which three customers account for most of the overdue amount? You can point to a card, the period control, a section title, the dashboard title, or an active filter to tell Nalar what you mean. Pointing gives context only. It doesn't give Nalar access to more data.
Answers use the dashboard's own numbers and periods. If you ask about a specific calendar period that differs from the one on screen, such as one quarter, Nalar can run a separate read-only check for that period and names the period in its reply. If the dashboard's data can't answer the question, Nalar says what is missing instead of guessing.
Change the dashboard
If you are the Dashboard Owner, describe the change you want:
Move the receivables table to the top and rename the section to "Collections".You can ask for changes to:
- chart labels and how a chart is displayed
- card order, grouping, and size
- section titles and their order
- the dashboard title
- the period choices in the time control
Read the proposal
Nalar replies with a proposal that names each card, section, title, or period it will change and what will change. Anything it can't do is listed with a reason, and the rest of the proposal stays usable.
Apply or discard
Select Apply to save the proposed changes, or Discard to leave the dashboard as it was. Nothing is saved until you apply.
Undo if needed
Right after you apply, the confirmation banner offers an undo. Use it to reverse that change.
A request that only names one metric changes only that metric; the others keep their definitions. If a change needs different or additional data, Nalar checks the new data first. A broad redesign rebuilds the layout from verified data. In every case, nothing changes until you apply.
If the dashboard, its data, or your access changed after Nalar made the proposal, the proposal has to be reviewed again before it can be saved.
Limits
- Only the Dashboard Owner can save changes. A Viewer's question is never treated as permission to edit.
- On some dashboards, Cowork can't add, replace, edit, move, or delete the generated cards. When that applies, Cowork tells you instead of reporting a change that won't appear. To get different cards, create a new dashboard with a different prompt.
- An archived dashboard is read-only. Restore it before asking for changes.
